Cyfarthfa Park Signage & Wayfinding Survey

April 24 2025

The Cyfarthfa Foundation and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council are currently working together to develop a new signage, wayfinding and branding strategy for the park. This is part of the wider programme of work currently taking place to realise an ambitious future vision for the site.

Clear and effective signage will play a vital role in ensuring that everyone - whether staff, business owners, or visitors - can easily and safely navigate the park, locate the key locations and attractions and enjoy a high quality visitor experience.

As such, we are conducting a survey to:

  • Understand what is currently working well.
  • Identify current issues with signage, including missing, unclear, or damaged signs.
  • Improve navigation and wayfinding to help visitors easily find key locations.
  • Enhance the visitor experience by understanding how people interact with the park and what their needs are.
  • Ensure inclusivity and accessibility, making the park easier to navigate for all users.
  • Strengthen the park’s identity by ensuring signage reflects the heritage and character of Cyfarthfa.
  • Address any safety and maintenance concerns related to signage and information boards.

This survey is a key part of our research and will help us understand user experiences and recommend new solutions.

If you visit Cyfarthfa Park, we'd love your feedback on the current signage and what you'd like to see.

Your responses will help shape future improvements, ensuring that signage is clear, accessible, and reflective of the park’s unique character. The insights collected will guide decisions on new signage placements, design improvements, and accessibility features.
