Sarah Hopkins

Sarah Hopkins is Executive Headteacher at Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic School in Merthyr Tydfil – a 3-16 school that serves the wider Heads of the Valleys area, and which was formed by the merger of four schools, including Bishop Hedley Catholic High school. Sarah graduated in Religious Studies at Cardiff University and worked in the NHS before moving into teaching. She has taught in Cardiff and Merthyr and was appointed Headteacher of Bishop Hedley Catholic High in 2018. Sarah has led the school’s improvement journey and has represented the education sector on many boards including Qualifications Wales and Welsh Government and local authority panels. She lives with her husband and two children (and dog!) in Aberdare.
